Experience a wine that is first class.. the exceptional collectors flagship First Quantum Grand Reserve Blend 2011 MAGNUM. This is the first release of the 2011 maiden vintage magnum First Quantum blend. With only 145 individual bottles available, signed by Matt Pascall and packaged in a keepsake wooden box it’s the ultimate addition to any wine collection.

Loosely based on First Quantum Minerals, the third biggest copper mines in the world – this grand Bordeaux blend needed a grand name to fit its contents.

50/50 Cab/Merlot.

This great wine is a rarity that presents a developed and complex nose with a diversity of aromas that make you want to swirl the glass and smell it over and over again.

Stunning nose, concentrated, intense, rich and structured with an endless finish.

Lovely cigar box, crème de cassis, violet, leather and raspberry with a fantastically complex palate structure: pencil lead and red meat with a refreshing menthe from the merlot and grippy tannins.

The finish is coherent with the nose, complex and long lasting.

The wine profile is one of pure elegance and complexity.

A stunning example of a world class wine.

Magnums of wine are inherently festive, age better and slower and taste consistently better than when matured in standard size bottles. There is a prolonged maturation, and the wine will often develop greater nuances and more complex flavours than wine aged in standard bottles. Magnums are the ideal size for ageing and maturing wine. If a producer is making wine in magnum size, you know you’re guaranteed their A game.

Side note: If the 750ml First Quantum Grand Reserve blend 2011 is as outstanding as it is, one can only imagine where its big brother sits on the podium of excellence.
